How can I use this gadget to get a direction reading?
1 of 6: Aim the mouse cursor at any part of the compass, then hold the left mouse button down while moving the mouse left and right.
2 of 6: That'll rotate the compass, which will make the pinging sound you hear get louder or softer.
3 of 6: Use some quick rotating to locate the approximate position of the loudest pinging sound, then use slow rotating to zero in on the exact setting.
4 of 6: NOTE: Instead of listening to the annoying pinging sound, you can watch the needle that's directly above the compass. The farther it is to the right, the closer you are.
5 of 6: You'll soon find that the loudest sound is coming from approximately 75 degrees. However, that's not the exact number. Move the compass around very slowly near 75 to fine-tune it.
6 of 6: The number you want is 73 degrees. Turn the compass so the red line is just a bit left of the 75 line, then click on the red button that's in the bottom right corner of the compass display.
