Black Mirror III Hints

How does the underwater puzzle work?

  • 1 of 8: The first thing to note is that you only have a limited time underwater before drowning.
  • 2 of 8: It's actually pretty long, but when your view starts fading to black, you'd better click on the rope or press ESC quickly to avoid drowning. (Or go ahead and drown, then restore the automatic save game.)
  • 3 of 8: The next thing to note is that there are actually four puzzle screens, not just one.
  • 4 of 8: Look on the left and right sides of the current screen for large arrow symbols that you can click on to rotate your view to another puzzle screen.
  • 5 of 8: There are four in all, each of which features a large stone circle with eight pieces on it that you can click to press down.
  • 6 of 8: Only one piece can be pressed down on each circle at a time. Pressing down another piece will cause the one that's already pressed down to pop back up.
  • 7 of 8: Your goal is to press down the correct piece on each of the four stone circles before you run out of time. As soon as all four are set correctly, the cage will lower you into the catacombs.
  • 8 of 8: If you run out of air before you're finished, quickly surface instead of letting yourself drown. That way, when you go back down, what you've done on the puzzle won't be undone (like it would be if you drowned and loaded the automatic save game).
