The Black Mirror Hints

How can I open the stone grave in the tomb?

  • 1 of 18: Interacting with the stone grave will not help you open it -- it will only trigger a deadly trap. (NOTE: The sight of Samuel being neatly beheaded by the trap is definitely worth seeing at least once, so save your game and try it!)
  • 2 of 18: You'd better see if there are any other gimmicks around here.
  • 3 of 18: Did you notice the little monolith in the center of the tomb?
  • 4 of 18: Examine it -- you'll find that it has an opening on top and a carved tablet on one side that advises you to use a stranger's head so as not to "shed" your own.
  • 5 of 18: Hey, what an idea! Get that dope Louis down here and have him try opening the grave for you! (Just kidding!)
  • 6 of 18: Or maybe the tablet is hinting about what you need to put in the monolith's opening. Are there any strangers' heads lying about the tomb?
  • 7 of 18: What about one of the skulls?
  • 8 of 18: There are a bunch of big ones high up on the wall between the exit and the stone grave, but if you examine them, you'll see that they're all carved from stone themselves, and are just decorations.
  • 9 of 18: Or are they? Carefully run the cursor along each skull until you find one that registers as "skull" instead of "skulls."
  • 10 of 18: Click on it to learn that it's cracked. That indicates it's probably not made of stone like the rest.
  • 11 of 18: This could be the skull you're looking for, but how are you going to get it down? You don't have anything long enough to reach up to it with.
  • 12 of 18: Even if you cannot reach it, you can still knock it down...
  • 13 of 18: ...by throwing something at it.
  • 14 of 18: Checking through your inventory, you should see that you still have some of the little stones that you used on Richard's tower window earlier. Try them on the skull to see if you can dislodge it.
  • 15 of 18: You can, but it'll smash when it hits the floor. Click on it for a close-up to see that the skull is worthless now...
  • 16 of 18: ...but something fell out of it and went through the nearby grating.
  • 17 of 18: It's a key! Maybe *that's* what you need to disable the big haircut trap!
  • 18 of 18: Use the skull key on the monolith to turn the behead-o-matic device off, then try the stone grave again.
