James found me! Help!
1 of 11: You have control and inventory access the instant the picture fades back in after you're conked, so immediately set about finding a way to get free. (NOTE: This is a timed sequence -- if you're not quick enough, you'll need to restore from a saved game and try again.)
2 of 11: The first order of business is to get Samuel untied.
3 of 11: What sharp object do you have that's proven useful for cutting things in the past?
4 of 11: Quickly use the chess piece knife on Samuel to free his arms.
5 of 11: Now you need to distract James from his digging with something that might have a big impact on him and stop his attempts to kill you.
6 of 11: Remember that James was expecting William, and doesn't even know who Samuel is. He probably thinks Samuel is some thug from the sanatorium sent to bring him back.
7 of 11: Reading material, such as William's diary, probably won't have the instant emotional impact that's desired.
8 of 11: What might James recognize -- particularly if this is a "family thing?"
9 of 11: James might recognize something that he's heard before.
10 of 11: Try the musical jewel box on him.
