Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines Hints
Creating Your Vampire
1 of 7: So, you're ready to start the game and create a new Vampire, huh? Well, there are many important things to consider when making your character.
2 of 7: First of all, and perhaps most importantly, you must choose a clan. Your clan influences what disciplines you will have access to, as well as giving you a specific strength and weakness.
3 of 7: Gender is also a somewhat important choice for this game. There are a lot of points in the game where your gender will affect how people react to you (unless you're a Nosferatu, in which case everyone will be disgusted). Females generally have a lot more Seduction options, and will have an easier time talking their way through the early and middle stages of the game. Males don't really get any advantages -- you can just hit on certain characters.
4 of 7: Once you've chosen the basics, you get to the real meat of the character creation process, where you must choose how to allocate your starting attributes. You can easily tell what feats the specific trait you are adding to will influence by rolling the cursor over it and taking a look at what gets lit up to the right. The different feats of course have varying levels of utility in-game.
5 of 7: When you are choosing what traits to increase, make note that sooner or later you WILL have to fight -- a lot. Sadly, the social options in the game drop off dramatically towards the end of the game, and there is no way to avoid some tough combat. If you neglect combat skills early in the game, you will have serious trouble completing the game. It's an unfortunate design oversight, but that's how it is.
6 of 7: Once you've dealt with your skills, you'll have to pick what discipline to boost. Disciplines are the most expensive to increase XP-wise, and they are also critical to finishing the game without too much stress. Choose carefully.
