Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines Hints

How can I kill Ming Xiao in the Golden Temple?

  • 1 of 26: This is definitely the tougher of the two final areas. If you ally with the Kuei-Jin, you will skip having to do this part.
  • 2 of 26: Go through to where Ming was, and go through the left or right door. Then go through the left or right building to get to the other side. Note that all of the enemies in here are humans, so you can use all your disciplines on them to full effect, and can feed on them as well.
  • 3 of 26: Go into the larger temple area. There's ammo in the rooms to the left and right.
  • 4 of 26: To proceed, go all the way to the Buddha status, and go left or right and down the stairs.
  • 5 of 26: Careful down here, there are lots of traps and pressure plates, though it's fairly obvious where they are.
  • 6 of 26: When you go down, you will see a locked door near you. This is actually where you need to go, but you can't open it from this side.
  • 7 of 26: Go to the altar in the back, and take the door on the left.
  • 8 of 26: Keep going, ignoring the doors to the side, until you reach a room with a huge waterwheel.
  • 9 of 26: Leap over the railing and go down. There's a large, barred door you have to get through.
  • 10 of 26: You will need to push the bar off the door by walking into it. Once it's been pushed far enough, you will be able to go through the door.
  • 11 of 26: Katana-wielding enemies will constantly spawn into here, so try to be quick opening it.
  • 12 of 26: Here, you will be in a room with a huge Buddha statue, small altars, and a suspicious looking panel on the floor. It should be fairly apparent what to do.
  • 13 of 26: Drag one of the altars onto the panel, and the Buddha will move. Go down the stairs to the next area.
  • 14 of 26: Kill all the enemies in this room. This area is a huge pain. Be careful of the enemies with flaming crossbows -- it's a good idea to take them down with insta-kill disciplines if you have them, as their arrows hurt a lot. If you kill them with a ranged weapon, they will drop their flaming crossbows, which are pretty good.
  • 15 of 26: Note the four pillars that you can use in the oval room. You'll have to find something to put on them.
  • 16 of 26: In each corner of this area, you can find rooms guarded by two fire crossbow using guys each. When you're approaching each room, a spinning blade trap will be activated -- you MUST crouch while stepping on the pressure plate or it will auto-kill you.
  • 17 of 26: Each of the pillar has a statue on it, and each one has a different design. Take note of what the design on each pillar looks like, and which statue you got off which one.
  • 18 of 26: Head back to the oval room once you have a Jade Crane, Cat, Dragon, and Elephant.
  • 19 of 26: You have to place the statues on the pillars with the same patterns as were on the ones you grabbed them from.
  • 20 of 26: If you forgot, the Jade Cat was on a pillar with a sort of figure eight. The Jade Crane was on a pillar with a twisty pattern, the Jade Elephant was on a pillar with a four column patter, and the Jade Dragon was on one with a ringed pattern.
  • 21 of 26: In other words, while facing the pillars from the original entrance from the room, Crane is top-left, Elephant is top-right, Dragon is bottom-left, and Cat is bottom-right.
  • 22 of 26: Once you have solved this puzzle, a portal will open. Go through it to finally confront Ming Xiao.
  • 23 of 26: This fight sucks. Especially if you are a melee fighter without Celerity. Ming will transform into a nasty-looking tentacle monster, who spawns more nasty-looking tentacle monsters all the time.
  • 24 of 26: If you have Celerity, you should be able to charge Ming, hit her with a couple combos, and retreat before she attacks. Then, while Celerity is still active, kill her babies, and repeat. Without Celerity, melee is almost impossible without using somewhere around 10 bloodpacks. She just hits too hard and too often, and her children, when they get big, are just slightly weaker versions of her. Try to take out her spawn as soon as they appear. Things are a bit easier at range, as her tentacles aren't too tough to dodge, and she generally won't try to close the distance. Be ready to take out her spawn as well, though.
  • 25 of 26: Once you manage to finish off Ming, you will get a whole lot of XP. Grab the Sarcophagus Key, and head out the portal that appears.
  • 26 of 26: If you allied with LaCroix, you will be taken back to the Venture Tower, and you will be treated to the ending sequence. Otherwise, you will have to do the Venture Tower area to finish the game.
