Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines Hints
Malkavian
1 of 4: My personal favorite clan, though not because they are particularly good. Malkavians are quite versatile, and can make effective combat or social characters (though a lot of your combat effectiveness will rely upon being sneaky). They start with Mental stats and Knowledges as their specialties.
2 of 4: The thing that makes Malkavians fun is the fact that you are, well, completely insane. All your dialogue options are bizarre, prophetic, and often very funny babble. This occasionally makes it difficult to figure out just exactly what you are supposed to mean when you pick a certain dialogue option, but you will eventually get used to the bizarre responses. Malkavians also are able to unlock a bunch of amusing easter eggs, such as one-sided conversations with inanimate objects, and dialogue references to the game. It's a lot of fun to be able to use Dementation in dialogue too (get at least 3 levels of it for maximum amusement).
3 of 4: As far as actually getting through the game as a Malkavian goes, you will be making heavy use of the Sneak skill and Obfuscate, as you don't get any effective combat-boosting Sisciplines, though Dementation can be very, very useful later in the game when you have to fight large groups of tough enemies. You'll want to boost up sneaky feats like Lockpicking, Hacking, and Sneak in order to be able to make your way through the game without having to get into too many unnecessary fights. You will probably want to be decent at both melee and ranged combat by the end of the game, though, as there are some areas where it is simple impossible to sneak around, even with level 5 Obfuscate.
4 of 4: Overall, Malkavians are tons of fun, but they can be a bit of a challenge once you hit the end game. Despite the fact that the manual says being a Malkavian makes negotiations more difficult, I found them easier with the proper use of Dementation. I'd advise trying Malkavians on a second playthrough, once you have a better knowledge of the game. Oh yeah, don't expect to look badass as a Malkavian. Their armor is far and away the goofiest looking in the game (think Cat in the Hat with a pimp jacket).
