Melee
1 of 2: Melee is generally better than Unarmed for combat, as the melee weapons you get quickly eclipse your fists in effectiveness, and can deal Lethal damage, which is harder for enemies to soak later in the game.
2 of 2: By the end of the game, you will want to have this pretty high, as there is an awesome sword you find in the endgame, and Ranged combat, while fairly effective, is a bit more difficult to manage than Melee.
