Hacking
1 of 2: Hacking will give you easy solutions to a number of quests, and will give you access to a bunch of money you couldn't get to otherwise, but it's not critical to completing the game. You'll need 9 or 10 in it to complete the side quests you get from the Nosferatu, however, so be sure you have enough if you take those (and don't want to cheat by getting the passwords from a hint file).
2 of 2: Hacking is useful to have for a stealth-based character, as many computers will allow you to shut off alarms, cameras, or lights, easing your way through areas. Also, it's based on Wits, which increases Defense for some reason, making you more effective in combat.
