The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon Hints
The Mead Hall Massacre
of 18: You can't get this quest until you've progressed along the Main Quest series to the point where there's a large column of flame erupting from the center of Lake Fjalding.
of 18: This flame has the unintended side-effect of opening up the lair of the Udyrfrykte.
of 18: Go visit the mead hall in Thirsk sometime after this happens.
of 18: Everyone in the main room will be dead except for Svenja Snow-Song. Talk to her to get started on this quest.
of 18: NOTE: Before you head out to frag the Udyrfrykte, go around and search all the dead bodies in the hall for goodies. They'll be gone when you get back.
of 18: The first part of this quest is to corner the Udyrfrykte in its lair and kill it.
of 18: The now-open lair entrance is just a short way west of Thirsk. It'll show up on your map with a standard door marker when you get close enough.
of 18: You'd think due to the name and legend of the beast and the cold climate that it would be a huge and funny-looking white dragon, but it's really just a little black apeman. However, it has a lot of strength and health, and is immune to fire, frost, poison, shock, and normal weapons.
of 18: Once you kill it, take its heart as proof of its death. (Also, if you're into gross weapons, you can take the Nord leg it was chewing on and use it as a club.)
of 18: Return to the mead hall to find it closed for renovations. Svenja is standing outside, so turn the heart of the Udyrfrykte over to her.
of 18: Now you have to go to Hrothmund's Barrow (location 57 on the Solstheim Map) and get his permission to be the new Thirsk chieftain (a sort of Baron of Beer, King of Kegs, etc.).
of 18: If the barrow asks you for the name of the wolf that killed Hrothmund when you try to enter it, you'll have to make the right choice since choosing wrong seals the barrow forever.
of 18: In the barrow, find the giant axe that's stuck in a stone pedestal and use it to get permission to be chieftain. (You'll also get a nice 5-point blessing of Fire Shield and Sanctuary.)
of 18: When you get back to the mead hall, you'll find it repaired and reopened, complete with new customers. Talk to Svenja to finish up the quest and become the chieftain.
of 18: You're not totally done here yet, though. Talk to Svenja about "mead hall business" to get some options.
of 18: You should order some mead from Skyrim so that you can collect some mead hall profits in the future. Also, why not send hunters out to get Snow Bear and Snow Wolf pelts so you can have the local smith make you some special armor?
of 18: Head upstairs to find a magic sword called "Clanbringer" leaning against the bed in your chamber.
of 18: You can also talk to Bereditte Jastal in his upstairs room to get an updated book on Thirsk history that includes you!
