The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon Hints
Discovery in the Mine
of 11: The miners have broken into an old barrow while digging in the lower mine tunnels, and Falco wants to know more about the unbreakable ice-like substance called Stalhrim that exists in so many barrows.
of 11: He wants you to talk to a Nord named Graring about it, so go find Graring's House (location 40 on the Solstheim Map).
of 11: When you arrive, you'll find the Nords being attacked by some crazy woman named Coventina Celata. Help them kill her, then talk to Graring about Stalhrim.
of 11: He'll give you an ancient Nordic pick axe that can be used to remove chunks of raw Stalhrim from big blocks of the stuff.
of 11: He asks you to bring him a piece to prove you know what you're doing, so do so.
of 11: You can get it anywhere Stalhrim is available, but why not go get the one down in the Raven Rock mine?
of 11: Go down to the lower tunnels in the mines and find the new breakthrough area.
of 11: You don't have to have the pick axe readied as a weapon in order to get a Stalhrim chunk -- just have it in your inventory and use the Stalhrim block like you would a treasure chest or ebony deposit to take what's there.
of 11: Take the one chunk you can get back to Graring and show it to him.
of 11: He'll let you keep it and will say that his two companions can turn Stalhrim chunks into weapons and armor for you. They need one chunk per item they make, and take two days to make each item. (NOTE: Ice armor is medium armor, and is almost as good as the best, which is the Royal Guard Armor in Mournhold.)
