The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon Hints

How can I wear constant effect items with bad effects on them?

  • 1 of 8: You mean, without suffering from the bad effects, right? It's really quite simple.
  • 2 of 8: You need to go to a spellmaker and custom-make a spell that will make you 100% resistant to whatever bad effects are on the item for 1 second.
  • 3 of 8: This is one strategy I give in the main Morrowind UHS hint file for using the Boots of Blinding Speed without going blind. Create a spell that gives you a Resist Magicka of 100% for 1 second, cast the spell, and then quickly right-click to pause the game and bring up the inventory screen before the one second is up.
  • 4 of 8: That same sort of strategy will work with Bloodmoon's Mantle of Woe and Whitewalker robe, too.
  • 5 of 8: The Mantle of Woe, which can be found in Rimhull (location 2 on the Solstheim Map), vastly increases your number of magicka points and your Conjuration skill rating, but also drains your Personality by 100 points, makes you weaker to normal weapons, and causes continual damage whenever you're exposed to the sun. I don't know how to counteract the sun damage, but both of the other bad effects can be resisted with a Resist Magicka effect, just as with the Blind effect on the Boots of Blinding Speed.
  • 6 of 8: Whitewalker, which can be found in Benkongerike (location 59 on the Solstheim Map), puts a constant Chameleon on you of 50%, but also hits you with Weakness to Frost, Frost Damage, and Drain Health effects. Making a counterspell for this one works much the same as with the Mantle of Woe, but you'll need a 100% Resist Frost as well as a 100% Resist Magicka.
  • 7 of 8: Your Mysticism skill has to be very high to have much of a chance of casting those kinds of spells correctly. If you can't manage it, there are two alternatives you can try. One is to enchant an item with a "Cast When Used" effect that does the same thing the spell does (100% Resist Magicka for 2 seconds, or whatever you need). It's expensive to enchant an item, and you need to have a good soul gem, but at least casting the spell from the item will always work no matter what your Mysticism skill is. See my main Morrowind hint file for more info on enchanting items.
  • 8 of 8: The other alternative is to wear items with a constant Resist Magicka effect on them. See the main Morrowind hint file for a list of the best items that you can use for this.
