The Ritual of the Sun

  • 1 of 11: Start on this quest by visiting and using the Sun Stone (location 15 on the Solstheim Map).
  • 2 of 11: On this quest, you're to "free the warm Sun from the Halls of Penumbra."
  • 3 of 11: That doesn't quite make sense, but at least you're told exactly where to go.
  • 4 of 11: The Halls of Penumbra are at location 23 on the island map.
  • 5 of 11: It's pitch black at first in the halls, so be sure to take along a few torches. (Or better yet, have an enchanter create an amulet with a constant Night Eye effect on it of 100%. If you can't do that, at least get the ring out of the hollow treestump next to the main building in Thirsk. It'll give you 20% Night Eye when worn.)
  • 6 of 11: Explore the tunnels, killing Draugr left and right, until you come to a tunnel with a big ugly monster called a Lightkeeper Grahl.
  • 7 of 11: It's going to be a tough battle, but you need to kill the beast before you can release the "sun."
  • 8 of 11: Once it's dead, take the Flaming Eye of the Lightkeeper from its corpse and proceed on down the tunnel.
  • 9 of 11: When you come to an ice wall, use the wall and then choose to toss the Lightkeeper's eye at it.
  • 10 of 11: That will release the "sun," and the Halls of Penumbra will be a lot better lit from then on.
  • 11 of 11: Return to the Sun Stone and use it again to finish the quest.
