Broken Sword: Shadow Of The Templars (Director's Cut) Hints

How can I unlock the grating into the sewers?

  • 1 of 8: These are some quite unforgiving puzzles to place at the very start of the game.
  • 2 of 8: Basically, the aim is to move the blocks around on their longer axes (i.e. the horizontal blocks can be moved horizontally and the vertical blocks can be moved vertically) to position them so that the bolt of the lock (the golden block) can move from one side to the other.
  • 3 of 8: What it's important to note here is that it doesn't need to make that entire trip in one go. For example, you can clear one space, move it one space along, then fill the space behind it, re-maneuver, and move it along one more space, etc., until it's all the way over.
  • 4 of 8: It's pretty cramped, but neither of the two locks you need to open should pose much of a challenge.
  • 5 of 8: Just focus on planning your moves in advance, so you don't get the bolt stuck halfway and have to move it backwards to make any progress -- plan out the entire thing before you go start.
  • 6 of 8: If all else fails and you're struggling, there's actually a way to cheat and bypass these two locks without having to do any work.
  • 7 of 8: If you're playing the Wii version, hold down the A button and drag the cursor from the top-left to the bottom-right of the screen in a quick diagonal line. This will pop the lock open.
  • 8 of 8: If you're playing the DS version, hold your stylus down at the top-left corner of the screen and drag it quickly in a straight diagonal line to the bottom-right corner. This will pop the lock open.
