The proprietor of the Cosmic Faerie won't let me go upstairs.
1 of 8: You won't be able to go upstairs until George completes another task.
2 of 8: He apparently is quite guarded about whatever is up there. As long as he's in the store, and doing his job, he won't let you up the stairway.
3 of 8: Perhaps a distraction of some kind may allow George to slip by Tristram's watchful eye.
4 of 8: What (or who) in town could provide that kind of distraction? Who else has any common interest with Tristram?
5 of 8: Talk to Eamon, and ask him about Tristram -- and his book -- more than once.
6 of 8: For the appropriate conversation option to be available, George will need to be in possession of Tristram's book of poetry.
