Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon Hints

How can I get George across the balanced slab of rock?

  • 1 of 22: Think back to the start of the game.
  • 2 of 22: How did George get out of the airplane?
  • 3 of 22: He needed to move some ballast to the back of the plane, to keep it from tipping off of the cliff.
  • 4 of 22: This puzzle is very little different from that one.  Note the large stone blocks in the immediate vicinity.
  • 5 of 22: The goal is to move one of those stone blocks onto the back end of the teetering slab of rock, to give it some weight and stability.
  • 6 of 22: Remember that crates and blocks can only be pushed or pulled, not lifted or dropped.  So you'll need to plan carefully, so that you can get a stone block to the correct position, to slide it across to the teetering slab of rock.
  • 7 of 22: The slab of rock is quite tall, and there is only one block that can be moved on top of it.
  • 8 of 22: The problem is in figuring out how to get it from where it is, to where it needs to be.
  • 9 of 22: To move the block, you'll have to fill some gaps with other blocks.
  • 10 of 22: Just to the left of the slab of rock are two movable blocks.  Take the top one and move it a bit closer to the block to the left -- the one that you'll need to place on top of the slab of rock.
  • 11 of 22: George should climb in behind the block, push the block out, then climb over it, and push it to the left.
  • 12 of 22: Next, jump down one level and move the lower block closer.
  • 13 of 22: George can pull the lower block out, then push it to the left.  Stop one block short from the edge, then move it closer to the wall, and slide it as far as it will go into the gap on the right.
  • 14 of 22: Back up to the higher level....  Push the higher block straight back towards the wall.
  • 15 of 22: Finally!  You can start moving the highest block.  George should climb up to the higher level and pull the block to the right, three spaces.
  • 16 of 22: Now to create the next "bridge" for the taller block, by moving the lower ones into position.
  • 17 of 22: Jump down a level, pull the block away from the wall, three spaces.  Pull it to the right four spaces, then back to the wall, three spaces.
  • 18 of 22: Climb up again and move the highest block as far as it will go to the right.
  • 19 of 22: To make the next "bridge", you'll once again need the lower block.
  • 20 of 22: Pull it out, to the left, two spaces.  Move it away from the wall, four spaces.  Nine spaces to the right, then two spaces closer to the wall.  The block should be back where it started from, filling the gap near the slab of rock.
  • 21 of 22: Climb up one level and pull the left-most block out from the wall three spaces, then to the right three spaces, then back toward the wall once.
  • 22 of 22: Climb up to the top level and grab the highest block.  Pull it, then push it out from the wall.  Now, at last, George can slide the block to the right (three spaces, until it won't move any more), onto the balanced slab of rock.
