Callahan's Crosstime Saloon Hints

How do I get out of here?

  • 1 of 18: The main doors are operated by a password system.  Use the phone near the armory door to try to give the correct password.
  • 2 of 18: There are two parts to the password.
  • 3 of 18: It might help if you found some sample passwords first.
  • 4 of 18: They are stored in the interrogation room.
  • 5 of 18: In the locked desk drawer.
  • 6 of 18: The key to the drawer is hidden somewhere nearby.
  • 7 of 18: In fact, you probably have it with you now.
  • 8 of 18: Search the uniform to find the key.
  • 9 of 18: The first handwritten line on the memo -- ghoti (fish) -- shows you what both parts of the password look like.
  • 10 of 18: "Ghoti" is a funny spelling of "fish" -- each of the letters in the word have the correct sounds in other words.  For example, the "gh" is "rough" is pronounced like "f", the "o" in "women" is pronounced like "i", and the "ti" in "action" is pronounced like "sh".  Put those together and you get "fish".
  • 11 of 18: If you want more examples, give the other passwords to the guard, and he'll explain them.
  • 12 of 18: Today's password is "Gmougn".  Give that to the guard first.
  • 13 of 18: Now, you need to find the normal spelling of the word.
  • 14 of 18: There are three sounds in that word: "gm", "ou", and "gn".
  • 15 of 18: For "gm," think "phlegm".
  • 16 of 18: For "ou", think "soup".
  • 17 of 18: And for "gn", think "gnome".
  • 18 of 18: That gives you "moon".  That's the second half of the password.  Enter that, and you're done with this segment.
