The Cameron Files: Pharaoh's Curse Hints

How do I get into the side chambers without dying?

  • 1 of 23: To solve the puzzle in the Ankh chamber (the chamber with the 5 doors, each of which has an ankh symbol on it) requires some information that is not directly present in the game, or in the manual.
  • 2 of 23: The Toumchetki Believers Book contains some clues to this puzzle.  But they are not sufficient to solve it.
  • 3 of 23: Read the book, near the end, where it talks about the four gods -- Osiris, Horus, Isis, and Re -- and the keys that each one has to the various chambers.  That relates to this situation here.
  • 4 of 23: Look carefully at the four pillars in the chamber.  Note the different pictures on each of the pillars.
  • 5 of 23: The information that is missing is how to identify each of the four gods.  That information is included here.
  • 6 of 23: Isis is the goddess in the white gown.
  • 7 of 23: Horus is the falcon-headed god.
  • 8 of 23: Osiris appears in white mummy wrappings.
  • 9 of 23: Re is the sun god, represented by a falcon's head with a sun over it.
  • 10 of 23: The information in the Toumchetki Believers Book is extremely confusing -- and, possibly, even incorrect.  This particular puzzle is easier solved by simply using trial-and-error.
  • 11 of 23: The process of solving this puzzle will be to move from one chamber to another, in the proper order, using ankh keys to gain access to each of the chambers.
  • 12 of 23: Entering a chamber with the wrong ankh key, or in the wrong order, is deadly.  So save your game before starting the puzzle, and at every step along the way that does not result in a "Game Over."
  • 13 of 23: Begin with the door at the far end of the chamber.
  • 14 of 23: Take the ankh key there -- it is the key of Maat.
  • 15 of 23: Using that ankh key, try to gain access to one of the other chambers.  (You may decide to try and figure out which one, from the clues given in the Believers Book -- but you will probably not be able to do that.)
  • 16 of 23: Each time you access the correct chamber, you will be given another ankh key to use to enter one of the remaining chambers.
  • 17 of 23: You must enter all four side chambers in the correct order.  When you have done that, you will be given the "ultimate key" -- which will allow you to gain access to the door at the far end of the chamber (the door which supplied you with the initial ankh key).  That is your goal.
  • 18 of 23: If you cannot gain access to the chambers in the correct order, even after trial-and-error, the remainder of this hint will give you the chambers in the correct order.  Don't read ahead unless you want the complete solution to this puzzle.  All references to "right/left" or "first/second" are relative to when you first entered the chamber (facing the Maat door at the far end).
  • 19 of 23: Take the initial ankh key (from the Maat door at the far end of the chamber), and use it on the first door on the right-hand side. The door is opposite a pillar containing a picture of Isis (the goddess in a white gown).
  • 20 of 23: Take the ankh key from within that chamber, and use it on the first door on the left-hand side.  The door is opposite a pillar containing a picture of Horus, the falcon-headed god.
  • 21 of 23: Take the ankh key from within that chamber, and use it on the second door on the second door on the right-hand side.  The door is opposite a pillar containing a picture of Osiris, the god in white mummy wrappings.
  • 22 of 23: Take the ankh key from within that chamber, and use it on the second door on the left-hand side.  The door is opposite a pillar containing a picture of Re, the sun god.
  • 23 of 23: Take the ankh key from within that chamber, and use it on the door at the far end of the chamber from where you entered -- the Maat door.
