How do I open the door at the far end of the room with the pictographs?

  • 1 of 17: Your exploration into the cave will eventually reach a dead end in a chamber with several pictographs on the right wall.
  • 2 of 17: The clue here can be found in Toumchetki's Believers Book.
  • 3 of 17: Can you find anything in that book that resembles any of the pictographs on the wall?
  • 4 of 17: Although 4 of the pictographs show hot spots (i.e., possible activity), only one will allow you to proceed correctly.
  • 5 of 17: In the Toumchetki book, find the page with the pictograph of Maat.
  • 6 of 17: Notice the pictures of colored scarabs on the same page.
  • 7 of 17: At the top of the page is what appears to be a black scarab.
  • 8 of 17: At the bottom of the page are three colored scarabs -- red, blue, and green -- overlaying each other.
  • 9 of 17: Take the black scarab and apply it to the pictograph.  Note the change in color of the pictograph.
  • 10 of 17: The colored scarabs must also be part of the solution to this puzzle, as indicated in Toumchetki's book.
  • 11 of 17: Apply the colored scarabs to the pictograph in the order shown in the book.
  • 12 of 17: Look closely at the picture, and note that the "order" is not left-to-right, but the three colored scarabs are "layered."
  • 13 of 17: The scarab on the bottom is blue.
  • 14 of 17: Apply the blue scarab to the pictograph, and note the color change.
  • 15 of 17: The scarab directly on top of the blue scarab, in the book, is the red scarab.
  • 16 of 17: Apply the red scarab to the pictograph, and note the color change.
  • 17 of 17: Finally, apply the green scarab.  If you have done this correctly, you will get an audible clue that the blocked doorway has opened.  You can now face the doorway and verify that yourself.
