A Quiet Weekend in Capri Hints

Is there anything I should know before starting the game?

  • TAKE THE SIGHTSEEING TOUR.  It's a point-and-click walk through the streets of Capri with a tour guide providing useful descriptions along the way.  (This information can also be accessed within the Tourist Map in your inventory.)

STUDY THE TOURIST MAP.  It's interactive and contains 'hint-ful' information.  Printing a map of Capri is very helpful.  The Internet site at http://www.capri.net/home/en/maps.php has a map of Capri that can be downloaded for this purpose.  (*NOTE* The game is centered around the eastern half of the island.)  Even though there is a wonderful built-in map system showing your current position as well as places that you have met & spoken with people, I found having a map of this part of the isle, to view at once, kept me from continually getting lost!

TAKE GOOD NOTES.  Pay close attention to the conversations (which are recorded in the NOTEBOOK and can be scrolled through at any time).  Many light the way to puzzle solutions!  Also, in several conversations, one is asked to perform tasks; noting these on paper aids one in accomplishing them all.  Thirdly, there are many memorial tablets, buildings, and homes that are noteworthy.  Recording their locations and essential information can help win the game!

    GET FAMILIAR WITH THE INTERFACE:

SERVICES ("Tool" icon) -- This is where you start the game as well as save, reload, and exit.  One very important feature to note here -- which only becomes available to you after you have spoken to your boss -- is JUMPING TO (Magnifying Glass Icon).  This allows one to travel directly from your current position to one of four specified island locations.  While this saves time, be aware that using this feature before you have thoroughly explored the isle could result in overlooked clues and/or inventory items!

HELP ("Multiple Road Signs" icon) -- When using this feature, thinly outlined black rectangles appear around all hot spots in each location.  Unless you enjoy pixel hunting, use it!

U'RE HERE ("Globe" icon) -- Clicking on this icon brings up the map system that shows your current position (flashing RED square) and places where you have met & conversed with people (light BLUE squares).  It's divided into eight separate maps, the first one always being the one showing your current location.  If you want see where you are going, you can access the other maps by clicking on the blue directional arrows.

TURN ("Curved Arrow" icon) -- Using this feature allows the player to turn 180 degrees.  This is a valuable tool since many objects cannot be seen unless you are positioned in a certain direction!
