A Quiet Weekend in Capri Hints

How does the Time Machine work?

  • 1 of 17: You must first get the Prism from Villa Jovis and figure out what to do with it.  (Read through all of the questions in the Villa Jovis section for instructions on getting the prism.)
  • 2 of 17: The second letter mentions a code.  Perhaps the Time Machine itself can lead you to the code...
  • 3 of 17: The machine has COLOR keys as well as NUMBER keys, so the code must be a combination of numbers and colors.
  • 4 of 17: Now try punching the Time Machine's keys at random.  What did you notice about the way you must put in the code?
  • 5 of 17: Each NUMBER selected had to be followed by a COLOR key selection.  Did you also notice that the numbers you keyed in became the color of the color key you chose?  (Make a mental note.)
  • 6 of 17: Have you determined how many digits are in the code?  If not, do a trial run on the Machine.
  • 7 of 17: You need a FIVE digit NUMBER code.  What about the COLOR code?
  • 8 of 17: How many color keys are there?
  • 9 of 17: FIVE.  And what are the colors?
  • 10 of 17: White, Blue, Red, Green and Yellow.  Remind you of anything?
  • 11 of 17: Read Gravitiello's diary and note the December 7th entry.
  • 12 of 17: Did you see that each ray of the FIVE colors produced by the Prism was numbered 1-5?  Remember that his letter insinuated there was a connection between the Prism and code for the Time Machine?
  • 13 of 17: Therefore, the COLOR code must be the same as the Prism's colors and in the same order from top to bottom.
  • 14 of 17: So the colors in order are Green, Red, Yellow, White, and Blue.  But what about the NUMBER code?
  • 15 of 17: Finding the NUMBER code is linked to a single coin.
  • 16 of 17: Examine this pattern.  It's made up of FIVE colors.  How could you make a FIVE-digit NUMBER Code from it?
  • 17 of 17: Count the number of times each color was used.  The final code is 3Green, 4Red, 1Yellow, 5White, 3Blue.
