What do I do with this infernal machine?
1 of 9: This machine is used to contact the Duke.
2 of 9: Since the Duke is already dead, contact with him is quite... ethereal.
3 of 9: Note the panel in front of the machine and the four sets of buttons on the panel.
4 of 9: Play with all of the buttons, and see what happens.
5 of 9: You should find that one or more of them causes "smoke" to emit from the machine, along with some strange sounds.
6 of 9: As you continue to press more buttons, you may see the intensity of the "smoke", and the pitch of the sound, increase.
7 of 9: The goal is to determine -- by sight and sound -- which buttons will result in the maximum effect on the machine.
8 of 9: One approach is to start with the first set of buttons; press each, until something begins to happen on the machine. That button should now be considered "set". Move to the next set of buttons, and try each, until there is an increase in the sights and sounds emanating from the machine.
9 of 9: When all four correct buttons have been pushed, the Duke will appear. The puzzle resets itself randomly, so that each time you use the machine, you'll need to figure it out again.
