Civilization II Hints

SDI Defence

  • The computer is much more fond of using nuclear attacks against you in Civilization II than it was in the original game.  For this reason SDI Defence becomes a necessity in all of your major cities.  Don't bother to build this improvement until someone has built the Manhattan Project and unless your rivals have the technology to build nuclear units; you save on upkeep costs this way.  SDI not only protects the city it is built in, but it also protects everything within a three square radius of the city from nuclear attack.  It does not, however, prevent spies from sneaking into your cities and planting nuclear devices, so use it in combination with spy stationed in your city.  SDI also increases a city's defense against cruise missiles by 50%.
