Civilization II Hints
Supermarket
By the time you gain the advance of refrigeration you probably have the happiness of your population under control and can afford to build a Supermarket in some of your cities. Don't bother to build a Supermarket until you have at least one square of farmland to take advantage of it (save on upkeep). I find a Supermarket to be best built in cities which are near or at their maximum size with the existing land. However, there are plenty of other situations where the construction of this improvement is applicable. The only spot I really wouldn't recommend one would be in a fairly small city, because it will have decent growth on its own without farmland. There are always exceptions though. Look at each situation carefully and decide yourself.
