Score Boosters
I have found one little trick which tends to boost your score quite a bit at the end of the game. If you're launching a space ship, start this a little before that; if you are conquering the world, put off the conquering of the last city for a while to do this.
Switch to a democracy and dedicate all of your trade to luxuries and put as many entertainers as possible in every city. Have every city working on capitalization to cover your expense. Doing this should cause We Love the President Day to be declared in almost every one of your cities. This will cause your population to grow by one in each of these cities each turn. Your population will grow beyond the city's ability to support it until it actually uses all of your food storages. At this point it will decrease by one per turn until it is stable again. You want to time things so that this doesn't happen before you win the game. Each content citizen will boost your score by one point and each happy one adds two points. If you try this trick in a significantly large empire it can add quite a bit to your final score.
