Civilization II Hints

The Cheat Menu

  • One of the biggest differences between the original game and Civilization II is the fact that you can cheat quite freely. There's even a menu available at your fingertips if you want to cheat, and there isn't a copy protection, as there was in the first game. However, your score is downgraded quite considerably if you do cheat, even though it makes the game a cinch. I would advise to cheat only in the beginning, if you're unsure about the game, the new units, Wonders, Governments, etc. or simply if you want an easier time the first few times that you play. The first time I played, I rejected the idea of cheating and didn't get very far. I did quite well, but the Egyptians were still in front, so I attacked them -- a rash decision, considering they were a little ahead in science and WAY ahead in money -- and got crushed. From that point on, I just cheated like there was no tomorrow.
