Conspiracies Hints

How can I use the paper fragments to figure out the code?

  • 1 of 18: Once they're in close-up mode, you can separate them by left-clicking on a fragment to choose it and then holding the CTRL key and right mouse button while moving the mouse.
  • 2 of 18: Once all of the pieces are separated out in a row, rotate each one by selecting it and moving the mouse while holding down the CTRL key and left mouse button.
  • 3 of 18: You need to rotate each piece so that it's right side up and facing you more or less flat, as if you were arranging the papers on a flat surface like a table (which would be a heck of a lot easier, but the game doesn't allow it).
  • 4 of 18: NOTE: Before you pick up all five pieces, the ones you have will be lying flat and rotated correctly in your inventory. You might want to use that to your advantage. Never pick up all five pieces at once -- just examine them four at a time.
  • 5 of 18: You'll get (in some order) a 5, a 7, an 8, a 3, and what looks like a T.
  • 6 of 18: The T is most likely a badly-written 1 or 7.
  • 7 of 18: Since we have a sample of a 7 that looks significantly different, then it has to be a 1.
  • 8 of 18: Now figure out how the pieces fit together using the torn edges of the paper.
  • 9 of 18: The easiest one to figure out is the 7 because it's burned on the right side.
  • 10 of 18: That probably means we've lost a digit from the final code, but at least we now know the 7 is the right-most (fifth) digit of what we've got.
  • 11 of 18: The next most obvious fit involves the 5 and the 3.
  • 12 of 18: The 3 is fairly clearly the digit that follows the 5.
  • 13 of 18: Also, the right edge of the 3 is the best fit for the left edge of the 7, giving us **537.
  • 14 of 18: As for what fits with the 5, the 8 is the best fit (if you have it rotated correctly).
  • 15 of 18: So now you have 18537. Try that on the remote.
  • 16 of 18: Oh, but don't forget about the missing digit that was burned off the right end!
  • 17 of 18: You'll have to guess it, but there are only 10 possibilities, so it shouldn't take you too long to find the right one. (You'll know when you've got it because sending it will cause a sizzly electrical sound effect.)
  • 18 of 18: Turns out it's a 5, making the complete code 185375.
