How do I get in-game hints?
When you get stuck, you can always try asking your partner for a hint. The way this works is that you click on whoever it is, agree that you want a hint, ask for it, then go to the case file (that is, click on the folder icon at the lower right of the screen) and click on Hints. You can then click on the question, and the game will FINALLY give you a complete rundown of whatever it is they think you should know. Two caveats here:
-- The hints aren't necessarily going to help you. They tend to tell you something like how to process a specific piece of evidence, rather than the one thing you forgot to do that's keeping anything from happening.
-- Reading a single hint can drop you down from Master to Investigator at the end of the case. This doesn't really mean anything, except that Gil will say something sorrowful rather than congratulatory in his wrap-up.
All in all, you might find it more helpful to just, um, read these hints.
