Deus Ex Hints
Important Note: Please Read
Deus Ex is a massive game, and at numerous points you are asked to make decisions which affect the eventual outcome of the storyline. Their impact on the actual game itself is usually fairly small -- person C will almost always be dead by the time that the credits roll and you will go through the areas in the same way. I have not covered the majority of these choices for the simple reason that there is no "right" way to progress. JC will back up whatever decisions you make to the other characters. I have, however, attempted to include all of the potential outcomes -- but if you see a clue along the lines of "How do I get Paul to kill XYZ?" and in your game Paul has been killed, this is the explanation.
The hardest part of writing hints to a game like this is the amount of freedom that is offered to the player. There are usually several ways of accomplishing an objective, and of course the ability to change your playing style mid-mission. To this end, I have attempted to offer alternative methods where available, but this will not cover every secret entrance, every vent, and every possibility. I have endeavored to provide all of the passwords which are vital to progress -- system logins, doorcodes, and the locations of relevant characters who impart the information to you -- but many computer systems will require you to hack them. (There is also the chance that I may not have found them myself!) However you set up your skill points, you would be advised to reach at least the first tier in computers, electronics and/or lockpicking -- this will give you a backup in the event that you get stuck. Not every door can be blown up with a rocket launcher!
