Hacking

  • These upgrades all have to do with hacking keypads, computers, and dedicated terminals that you don't have the passcodes for. Being able to hack most of the locked devices you come across is great for maximizing XP and loot -- there are a *lot* of optional hacks available throughout the game. The most important upgrades to get are "Capture 2 thru 5" and "Stealth 1 thru 3." You can supplement those with Nuke virus software and Stop! worm software items to avoid having to get the Hacking: Fortify upgrades.

    * Hacking: Capture (Cranium): Capture 2, 3, 4, 5 => Allows you to hack level 2, 3, 4, 5 security devices.
    * Hacking: Capture (Cranium): Turret Domination => Use security hub computers to turn off turrets or set them to fire on your enemies. If you have the arm upgrade that lets you move heavy objects, you can carry a friendlied-up turret along to shoot down all your enemies for you.
    * Hacking: Capture (Cranium): Robot Domination => Use security hub computers to turn off security bots or set them to fire on your enemies.

    * Hacking Analyze Add-On (Cranium): Detection Feedback => Point at any node to see the chances of detection.
    * Hacking Analyze Add-On (Cranium): Analyze All Datastores => Point at any datastore to see what's in it.

    * Hacking: Fortify (Cranium): Fortify 2, 3 => Makes nodes that you fortify slow down the diagnostic subroutine even more.

    * Hacking: Stealth (Cranium): Stealth 1, 2, 3 => Reduces your chances of being detected when capturing or fortifying a node by 15%, 30%, 45% (down to a minimum of 15%).
