Diablo and Hellfire Hints
Diablo
The killing of Diablo is the last quest for the game, as you might expect. The Diablo level has four areas, and the way to get the most valuable items and experience is to work through each in turn.
First, without pulling any levers, run around and kill everything that is outside of a room. There will be a little walled area with a lever in it -- kill everything in there too. When the level is quiet, pull the lever, and you can now enter the square room with the spiral passage. Fight your way into the center, killing everything as you go. Once at the center, recharge with a trip to town if needed, and then pull the lever located there.
Now the cross-shaped room will be be open. Kill all the creatures in there, and you will be able to pull the two levers inside. This will open the room with Diablo in it. At this point, try to inch up from all sides, and lure out single bad guys without getting Diablo to come out. It is hard enough to beat Diablo without having a herd of henchmen getting in your way at the same time. A saved game is an excellent idea here, if you are playing as a single player.
Once you have run out of henchmen, go in and let Diablo see you. He will follow you out, hitting you with fire-based spells. If you have maximum resistance to fire, it will make his attack much easier to take. How you deal with him depends on your class, of course. As a Warrior, you are best off to go toe-to-toe with him. If you have a sword with knock-back ability, you might want to try to pin him against a wall. Use a fast weapon, and be prepared to have quick recovery. If you take those precautions, you should be able to kill him with only one or two potions of full healing. Your fast attacks will keep him off balance and prevent him from launching many attacks against you.
As a Sorcerer, I think that chain-lightning works well. Be sure to use mana shield while you are attacking, and recharge your mana when it gets to 1/3 full, since you don't want to run out. Another technique that works well is to simply run in circles and make Guardians as you go. It takes a bit longer, but this will also work. Make some guardians before you lure Diablo out to help with this plan.
The Rogue should try and use arrows from a good distance. Having teleport or even phasing would be a good plus, especially when used with rejuvenation potions. If you have trouble with the Rogue in Hell, I would suggest starting a new game with the same character. The boost in the abilities will make winning easy the second time in Hell.
