Diablo and Hellfire Hints
Getting Started
As you start out in Diablo you have very low abilities, little gold, and poor equipment. Invest your starting gold in a little armor if you can. As you play the first levels, concentrate on getting everything tidy, killing all the monsters and opening all the chests and barrels. Remember that Pepin is back in town, and he will heal you without any charge, so only use a healing potion in an emergency. Also, in the first two levels, consider whether a walk to town might not be a better idea than using up mana or a town portal scroll.
As a fighter or sorcerer, you can make good use of the repair weapon or recharge staff spell. Your spell is free and will be a savings over having the work done in town.
Avoid the Butcher until you are ready to take him on. He's a very easy way for a low-level character to die, but once you think you're ready, see the Butcher Quest hints.
