Diablo II Hints
The Shrines
Mana Recharge Shrine -- This shrine improves your mana recharge rate by an impressive amount. It is a magic user's best friend, especially if you can manage to hit one right before a large encounter.
Combat Boost -- This shrine cranks up your attack rating, and your minimum and maximum damage.
Resist Fire -- This shrine increases your fire resistance to max.
Resist Cold -- This shrine increases your cold resistance to max.
Resist Poison -- This shrine increases your poison resistance to max.
Resist Lightning -- This shrine increases your lightning resistance. I've never been able to really use this shrine for any benefit, as lightning creatures are relatively rare.
Skill Shrine -- This is a great shrine, as it increases all skills that you have by two for a short while. It's like getting 20 or so levels free!
Stamina Boost -- This shrine magically gives you an unlimited running capacity to run. A good shrine, very practical.
Experience Boost -- Where are those champion monsters when you need em? This shrine gives you more experience per kill for a while.
Refill -- This shrine will bring up your mana and health instantly, like a full rejuvenation potion.
Well -- This shrine is like a refill shrine but is usable in two smaller sips if you are not down very far. A very nice shrine to find. You can run around collecting a horde of baddies, bring em to the well, and wreak havoc. Fun! It refills rather quickly, so lead another pack back later.
Health Shrine -- This shrine restores health instantly.
Mana Shrine -- This shrine is very handy for the magic users. It instantly restores all your mana.
Portal Shrine -- This shrine opens up a free town portal.
Fire Shrine -- This shrine is not cool. Stay away from them if you are weak. A big health loss may come from the blast, but you will get a lot of potions.
Monster Shrine -- Makes the nearest monster a champion, and sends them heading your way. This is a fun way to get good loot, but wait until you are recharged.
Gem Shrine -- This shrine needs some explaining. It will either give you a chipped gem of random type, or if you have one or more gems in your inventory, it will upgrade one of them to the next level of quality. This is really the only way of getting perfect gems -- bring your best gem to the shrine and upgrade it. If you use the cube, the amount of gems you need is really preposterous. Consider that you get 1 perfect, from 3 flawless, from 9 normal, from 27 flawed, from 81 chipped! Just to make sure you don't accidentally click on a gem shrine without a gem, ALWAYS have your best gem (that isn't perfect) on you. It is worth it.
Exploding Shrine -- This shrine dumps a bunch of random explosions around, which do not damage you, and leaves a cluster of exploding potions. This is useful in the first act...
Poison Shrine -- Poison clouds that do not affect you spring up all around, and a little collection of poison gas potions appears. You can sell them if nothing else.
Armor Boost -- This shrine is pretty self-explanatory. Go ahead and wade into the throng.
