General Amazon Tips

  • When you are starting your Amazon, remember that you will probably be specializing in either the bow or the javelin.  It is very hard to make a character that is skilled enough in both to be a really strong character, as there are just not enough skill points to distribute.

The Amazon with bow skills is often called a "Bowazon".  Her strength is the ability to attack from a distance and avoid any direct contact.  When playing this way, remember to run away when there is trouble.  Make sure you have some fast boots on -- they are a critical item to find.  After you outrun your enemies, you can turn and fire.

Having something to slow the attackers is almost as essential as being speedy.  Cold-based attacks are great early on, and a Valkyrie later on will work well too.  You can also use a hired mercenary to good effect, but remember to watch their health as well as your own.  If you exit before either of you die, you can eventually level up your mercenary to be a good companion.

A Bowazon needs a lot of dexterity, but not much strength.  Put only a couple of points into strength each level until you get up to about 60.  That is about as much strength as you will need to wear most armor and wield most weapons.  While the passive skills don't need mana, most of the other skills do, so you may want to put some points into energy if your attack rating is over 75%.

The Amazon with javelin kills is often called a "Javazon".  Her strength is the dual nature of the javelin and related weapons, good ranged attack plus good hand-to-hand combat.  Many of the same passive skills will help her as well as a Bowazon.

A Javazon also needs a lot of dexterity, both to attack well and to avoid damage.  But a bit more strength could be used to support the hand-to-hand combat.  Armor is much more important for a Javazon as well.

Whichever way you decide to go, remember to funnel some of those skill points into the Passive and Magic skill page.  Getting Critical strike, Penetrate, Dodge, Avoid, and Evade are a must.
