Diablo II Hints
Combat Skills
Blessed Hammer -- This skill creates a hammer that spins out and hurts everything it hits, with extra damage to the dead. I have found this spell to be one of the worst abilities for the paladin.
Charge -- This skill causes you to quickly run and attack the target and knock the target back. This is a useful spell for hitting a particular creature quickly and possibly knocking it out of a group of enemies. All you really need is one or two points into this one if it appeals to you.
Conversion -- This attack has a possibility of causing a monster to temporarily fight for you. This is one of those attacks with limitless potential. Pump points into this like there is no tomorrow.
Fist of the Heavens -- A strike of lightning that shoots out a blast or two of Holy Bolts. This is the most powerful offensive skill the paladin can get. Pump as many points as you can into this, then stockpile mana potions like crazy.
Holy Bolt -- This skill conjures a powerful bolt of holy energy that heals your friends and hurts the undead. This is a very, very useful spell, especially for Act Two. I highly suggest pumping this thing up to at least a five.
Holy Shield -- This skill gives a temporary defense bonus. This is a nice little skill, but it doesn't really need anything past a point in order to be useful.
Sacrifice -- This skill increases the damage and speed of your attack, but it damages you at the same time. This is not the greatest skill to learn. If you feel that the bonus is worth the sacrifice, then pump a fair amount into this skill, but I would not highly recommend it.
Smite -- This skill causes you to knock back the attacked monster by bashing it with your shield. I found this attack to be pretty much useless, since the damage is minimal and the knockback is not very far.
Vengeance -- This skill adds fire, lightning, and cold damage to your melee attacks. This is a useful skill but it's nothing special. If you like it, if gets better after a few skill points get pumped into it.
Zeal -- This skill causes you to quickly attack multiple targets (or a single target multiple times). This is the skill I suggest most for the paladin. This thing will mow down whole groups of enemies when you are surrounded. Pump a lot of points into this one!
