Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove Hints
How do I get across this frozen footbridge?
of 10: If you head left past the farmhouse, you come to a footbridge leading to the Dire Grove excavation. Unfortunately, it's thickly coated with ice. You need to find a way to clear out all that ice before you can cross the bridge.
of 10: If you've ever shoveled snow, you know that a shovel is no good against ice like this. What you need is either a pickaxe or a source of heat.
of 10: You'll find the latter in the basement of the hotel. Once you start the generator, that is.
of 10: Once the lights are on, go through the manager's office and down the stairs into the basement. What's that tank in the left corner under the shelf?
of 10: That's an acetylene torch, used for welding. Sounds ideal! All you need to do is fix the corroded hose.
of 10: The garden hose down here looks the right size. Use the wire clippers in your inventory (the same ones you used to take the oars off the wall) to take a piece of the green hose. (Cut in the middle of the hose, not the end.)
of 10: Now you need something to affix the garden hose to the torch hose. What you need is some super glue --
of 10: -- and you can find a tube of Uber Glue in the basement of the store, in the second hidden object search at the freezer.
of 10: Use the glue on the torch hose, then use the piece of garden hose on the torch. Ta-dah!
of 10: Now go back to the footbridge and use the torch on the ice. Hold it there for a moment or two, and when the flame dies down, the bridge is clear.
