Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove Hints
What do I do with this headstone in the ruins?
of 8: Walk up from the tent to the arrangement of monoliths that kind of looks like Stonehenge to find the center of the mystery, or rather, the entrance to the center of the mystery. This is where it all starts to come together.
of 8: Zoom in on the smallish headstone in the center of the circle to see that it has four column-shaped slots cut into it. Clearly you need to put something in those slots, but what and how?
of 8: The detective's journal is very helpful here. Don't bother with the writing, which just says the whole thing is inexplicable; rather, look at the two pictures.
of 8: The picture on the left shows the Crime Computer, the screen where you've been watching all the videotapes. You might not have noticed the triangles, circle, and square on the actual Crime Computer screen; look at it now to see where they show up.
of 8: The journal picture on the right shows the slots in the stone. Notice that the detective has drawn round stones in the slots with the relics sitting atop them. Can you see now what you're supposed to do?
of 8: You need to put the four relics on the headstone in the places shown by the geometric designs in the Crime Computer, using the round stones to fill in the empty spots.
of 8: For example, suppose the Crime Computer shows a square on videotape #5, which is the second slot down from the top in the first column. That means in the first slot on the headstone, you'd put two of the round stones on the side pieces, then put the square relic so it rests just where videotape 5 is. See?
of 8: If you get it right, things will happen automatically. If nothing happens, press the large round design on the headstone under the slots to reset the puzzle.
