Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove Hints
How do the in-game hints work?
1 of 3: You can use the in-game hint system to help you find an object in one of the hidden object scenes. Just click on the green "Hint" button at the lower right corner of the scene, and it will send a trail of sparklies to show you where one of the unfound items rests.
2 of 3: The button then takes three minutes to reset, after which you can use it again. You can use the hint button as many times as you like without penalty (though if you're playing the Collector's Edition, you'll get an Achievement award for not using any hints at all).
3 of 3: When you're solving one of the other puzzles, such as one of the relic puzzles, the hint button turns into a "skip puzzle" button. Clicking on it will solve that puzzle for you so you can move on with the game, and there's no penalty, except that it resets the hint button for three minutes. (Though again, if you're playing the Collector's Edition, you get an Achievement award if you don't skip any of the puzzles.)
