Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove Hints
Case Files/Journal Entries
1 of 4: The detective's journal, accessed via the "Case Files" button in the lower left corner of the screen, occasionally provides a lot of help in solving the various puzzles you come across and deciding what to do next. When the detective makes an entry, the book will pop open, and it's a good idea to get in the habit of reading whatever has been written there as soon as it does.
2 of 4: There are 32 possible journal entries; some are triggered by entering a location (like walking into the covered bridge the first time) and some by doing specific things (like picking up the newspaper article on the sleeping bag in the hotel sitting room). The pages will be numbered in the order you personally trigger them.
3 of 4: You don't need to be obsessive about these triggers, since they're not all necessary to finish the game. However, if you get to the end with only 24 pages, you might find the plot a little hard to follow, since the pages fill in some blanks.
4 of 4: Here are the 32 journal page triggers I've discovered. Again, this may not be the order they appear in your game, if you did these things in a different order. CAUTION: Don't read this list until you've played the game through at least once -- there are spoilers herein!
