Discworld Hints
How do I get the password?
of 10: You can use something outside the hideout to help increase your hearing.
of 10: Notice that the drainpipe is all connected.
of 10: And it just happens to end just near the door.
of 10: Too bad it's pointed down, rather than at the door.
of 10: But you can fix that. Just use the left end of the drainpipe to turn it.
of 10: His voice is still too quiet, though.
of 10: A trick to hear through walls will also help you here.
of 10: You need to use a glass on the drainpipe, and then you'll be able to hear the password the next time someone tries to enter the hideout. (Again, you might have to exit and enter L-space to reset the chain of events that cause someone to enter.)
of 10: You can get a glass from the Broken Drum.
of 10: Just take a look at the counterwise wine (out of L-space) and then ask for a drink. You'll then get a glass that you can use to hear the password.
