How can I enter the Shades?
1 of 4: You won't be allowed in the Shades until Rincewind has a reason to go there.
2 of 4: You'll need to track someone down there.
3 of 4: Wait until after you've been in the hideout, and you'll notice that the thief is no longer waiting in line to talk to the Patrician.
4 of 4: Ask the peasant about the thief, and you'll learn that he's gone into the shades. You'll then be allowed to go into the Shades to look for him.
