DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil Hints
How am I supposed to kill this highly electrified demon in the Energy Core?
of 18: Shut off his flow of electricity.
of 18: First, there are several important things to note.
of 18: If you're on the main floor, the demon can zap you by electrifying the floor as well as by throwing balls of lightning at you. Hop up onto the slightly higher floors with the energy core housings to avoid the floor-shock routine. (Thankfully, the demon is confined to the lower floor area.)
of 18: You'll want to drop to the main floor sometime when it's safe and look around for two little secret lifts that will take you to an area beneath the floor.
of 18: The lifts are on the main floor between cores 2 and 4, and between cores 1 (the blown one) and 3.
of 18: There's a health station and some ammo down in the under-the-floor area, and if you stay crouched, the demon can't hurt you.
of 18: Now for the main strategy for shutting him down. He's drawing power from the nearby energy cores, so you'll have to destroy all of them before you can destroy him.
of 18: To start with, only core 1 is blown. That happened in the cut-scene when the demon drew on the cores for his initial burst of power. The other three cores are shielded, and their panels are red (meaning you can't use them yet).
of 18: In order to make any of the three remaining cores destroyable, you're going to have to drain the demon's power so that he'll be forced to draw more from the cores.
of 18: Just crouch-waiting down in the under-the-floor area while he tosses electricity left and right won't do it -- you need to go up there and damage him some.
of 18: When you're ready, use the Bloodstone and then quickly whip out your rocket launcher and ride a lift up to the demon's floor. Three or four direct rocket hits while under the influence of the Bloodstone should be enough to cause him to start charging up from the cores again.
of 18: As soon as you see him start to recharge, run back for the lifts and go crouch safely under the floor again. (Also, whip out the Bloodstone and recharge it with one of the many dead bodies provided.)
of 18: After the demon's through charging up, core 2 will be accessible. Once again, use the Bloodstone and ride a lift up, but this time ignore the demon and run for core 2.
of 18: Click on its green panel to slide its shielding aside, then quickly blast the core with the chaingun so that it'll blow up before its shield closes again. Then run for a lift and get back to safety.
of 18: NOTE: If a core shield does close before you destroy the core, you can click on its green panel to open it up again.
of 18: Now you need to repeat the above process of damaging the demon and forcing him to charge up again in order to make core 3 destroyable, and then finally core 4.
of 18: Once all four cores are blown, get up there and damage the demon until he dies.
of 18: I know that's all a lot of trouble, but it'll be worth it when your Bloodstone is powered up to include invulnerability as one of its powers. Now you've got an item that can give you a true berserk mode (just like the berserk power-ups in the main DOOM 3 game) plus super speed. Yes!
