What's the best way to deal with the bunch of monsters that appears right off?

  • 1 of 8: Use the Bloodstone to make yourself super-fast and invincible, and your weapons super-strong.
  • 2 of 8: Note that there are two dead bodies near the start that you can recharge your Bloodstone with.
  • 3 of 8: Instead of staying and fighting, you could use your Bloodstone the instant you appear, then make a run for it along the path ahead. You should be able to almost make it to the big orange-and-red teleporter that's on a side path. When the Bloodstone effect is about to wear off, quickly kill off any monsters within sight and then stand and wait for any who could follow you all the way to the teleporter.
  • 4 of 8: That's a pretty good way to handle the starting area, but it guarantees that you'll enter the teleporter with only two Bloodstone charges (unless you fight your way back to the large flaming pit cave and recharge with the dead body there). Read on for some specific strategies for killing off the starting batch of monsters without using any Bloodstone charges or losing any recharge corpses.
  • 5 of 8: First, move forward a tiny bit, then turn around and finish off the two starting cacodemons with the chaingun. Then quickly shoot down the two wraiths that appear ahead on the path with the machine gun or shotgun.
  • 6 of 8: As for the hellknight, it's hard to keep his fireballs from splattering one or both of the nearby recharge corpses if you just dodge them, so it's best to use the grabber gun to grab and return his fire (and finish him off with a point-blank double-barrel shotgun blast to the head if he gets too close). Then it's a simple grab-and-throw routine with the cherubs that appear.
  • 7 of 8: That clears out the starting lava-filled area, so quicksave and then continue down the line, using the grabber gun to toss-and-throw the ticks, and then using retreat-and-fire tactics to take down all the cacodemons and forgotten that appear in the big cave area (grabber gun for forgotten, chaingun for cacodemons).
  • 8 of 8: After that, there's just a vulgar and two imps before you get to the teleporter, and a couple of grabbable cherubs in the teleporter room.
