DOOM 3 Hints
Map Notes
When using the maps in this hint file, there are several things to keep in mind:
* These are 2D maps of 3D areas, and there is often overlap where one pathway or room is directly above another. I've simplified the maps as much as possible, including the separation of many overlapping areas, but there can still be some confusion about this. Whenever a map appears to show a passage that you can't find in the game, it's probably on another level and might be accessible via a nearby ladder, stairway, or vent opening (which may or may not be labeled on the map). In some cases, though, you have to go way around on another route.
* Another simplification I made is to not mark every single place where you can find weapons, ammo, enemies, health kits, etc. One reason is that placement of such things can vary depending on what difficulty level you're playing the game on. I only label major things (backpacks, PDAs, wall-mounted health stations, security armor, etc.) that are in the same place no matter what difficulty level you're playing on.
* Whenever I label a room or region, I always use the exact name that the game gives that area (or a recognizable abbreviation thereof). I also use that same name whenever I refer to it in the hints.
* If you find a locked or jammed door that isn't shown on the map, then it's a door that you can't ever get through (or, as in the case of the two Mars City areas, it may be unlockable when you return to the area later on).
* Whenever possible, I avoided putting spoilers of any kind on the maps. I usually label locked doors, big hazards, and other major obstacles on the maps, but without giving away any information on how to get past those obstacles. You'll need to refer to the hint questions in the same section with the map to find all that out.
