How do I survive the area with the barred cage room in the middle?

  • 1 of 9: The first thing to do is trigger the appearance of another hellknight and deal with him.
  • 2 of 9: You make him appear by either moving up against a barred door or running down the hallway.
  • 3 of 9: You have a hot new chaingun to shoot him with, but I advise you to save its ammo and use the same hit-and-run shotgun tactics that you may have used with the last hellknight (see link below for a refresher).
  • 4 of 9: After he's dead, a few imps will appear. Shoot them down to get the barred doors to finally lower.
  • 5 of 9: Before you enter the cage area, check every alcove outside of it for ammo, health, and armor. Also, equip your chaingun and make sure it's fully loaded.
  • 6 of 9: When you move far enough into the cage, a mancubus will teleport in. You'll want to shoot him with the chaingun while dodging his blasts.
  • 7 of 9: To make things worse, several cheerful cherubs will teleport in and attack during the mancubus-shooting process.
  • 8 of 9: Once that's all taken care of, go get the plasma gun that's past where the mancubus appeared in order to move on to the next area.
  • 9 of 9: SHORTCUT: You could quickly run past the mancubus and get the plasma gun in order to move on without having to use up all that chaingun ammo.
