1 of 2: While you don't ever have to use the central bridge to visit the Storage area, you should in order to pick up lots of goodies, including BFG ammo (you'll need it sooner or later).
2 of 2: In the Server Bank area, there's a place on the uppermost floor near the exit to the central bridge where there are four large windows on your right that are either broken out already or you can break them out. Go to the last one of these and remove all the glass, then make a running jump across to a secret ammo area.
