DOOM 3 Hints
The sarge has been turned into one hellacious fiend! How do I defeat him?
of 10: Sergeant Kelly (now known as Sabaoth, at least on Sabbath) has 1,750 hit points and can cause up to 200 points of damage with a BFG blast (and 40 with an arm swipe). Huh! I wonder if Hell would be willing to upgrade you like that if you switched sides.
of 10: Now's not the time to think about that. You need to destroy this clanky tanky guy ASAP! Following are some important things to remember.
of 10: You can disrupt Sabaoth's BFG blasts by firing directly into them with a rapid-fire gun like the chaingun or plasma gun (or even a little pop-gun like the pistol).
of 10: The soulcube can be used against Sabaoth, but it only hits him for 1,000 damage, leaving 750 more to be inflicted by other weapons. However, that's a *huge* help, and it will fully heal you at the same time. You may want to save this for after the battle has started and you've gone way down on health. (I hope for your sake that the cube is charged!)
of 10: Head shots don't do any extra damage to Sabaoth, and "leg" shots (shooting his tank tread half, in other words) have the damage reduced by 25%. So shoot for the upper body, but don't bother focusing on the head.
of 10: You need to be careful not to fall off the floor you and Sabaoth are fighting on. Many of the floor panels around the edges of the room slide in and out for Sabaoth's convenience (not yours).
of 10: Two side rooms open up with supplies, but standing in one of them to avoid Sabaoth's melee attack can be disastrous if he fires a BFG blast in there with you.
of 10: The four large pillars in the room can be used as temporary cover, but Sabaoth can ride by them and activate them, frying you ferociously if you're still next to them. (Note that each pillar has some supplies setting near it.)
of 10: My favorite strategy is to fire the charged soulcube at Sabaoth the instant his door starts rising up. That way there's time to switch to the plasma gun and start pounding him with it before he can fire his first BFG blast. You should be able to kill him with the plasma gun before it needs reloading. (If not, quickly switch to the chaingun and use it.)
of 10: Don't forget to pick up the BFG from next to Sabaoth's corpse when you finally manage to trash the guy.
