Ticks are the second of the two types of agile spider-like creatures that can swarm you and explode in order to get at you. There doesn't seem to be much difference in their behavior or damage values, so you can think of them as being pretty much the same kind of creature as trites. The only noticeable difference seems to be that ticks attack in even larger swarms than trites, and they make a high-pitched squealing sound instead of a low hiss.
