Trites are the first of two types of agile spider-like creatures that can swarm you. They can also jump at you and explode painfully in order to hurt you when you're on a slightly higher floor than they are and they can't get to you (like if you just climbed up a ladder). They love to swarm at you from out of holes in the walls and floors, so use the machine gun to quickly mow them down before they get close enough to bite. (If you're low on other ammo, a couple of quick pistol shots can be used to kill them.)
