How can I defeat this drider-like freak in the EFR Main Shipping Hub?

  • 1 of 7: I hope you saved your game before you entered that room. This is the first of the game's four major "boss monster" fights, and they always take these things *very* seriously.
  • 2 of 7: Vagary has 1,300 hit points. She can attack you with her claws up close for 12 damage, but her favorite way of attacking is to use the Force (or whatever) to hurl large objects such as spiky boulders at you from a distance.
  • 3 of 7: One of the best ways to attack her is to hurl objects of your own at her from a distance while circle-strafing, specifically grenades. I hope you saved up plenty and have them ready to toss when you enter her room.
  • 4 of 7: Alternately, you could strafe around her while firing at her with a high-powered weapon like the plasma gun or chaingun.
  • 5 of 7: TIP: There's some adrenaline near the entrance to the room if you need to grab it to help you keep running, which is vital.
  • 6 of 7: And in case you're wondering, the airlock that leads to the next level doesn't open until Vagary's dead. No shortcuts there!
  • 7 of 7: Since I don't like lots of running around and fancy dodging, my favorite strategy is to hit Vagary with two or three grenades the instant the cut scene is over, then do a little simple dodging long enough to switch to the chaingun or plasma gun, then just stand still and hit her in the head with that until the clip is exhausted (then switch). This works fairly well even on Veteran difficulty, but always save first since there's a good chance that you'll die before Vagary does.
